US, UAE Officials Convene in Washington
(MENAFN) On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio hosted United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan in Washington, D.C., for a series of high-level discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
Rubio shared on X that the pair "discussed economic opportunities, regional security, and humanitarian efforts to mark the growing partnership between the United States and the UAE."
Their dialogue underscored mutual interests and reaffirmed the evolving alliance between the countries.
According to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, the talks also addressed Leader Donald Trump’s recent "historic" visit to the Gulf nation.
She emphasized the significance of the enduring US-UAE strategic alliance in fostering both safety and economic growth in the region.
Rubio expressed appreciation to al-Nahyan "for the UAE’s provision of humanitarian assistance" and underscored the critical need to ensure that "Hamas can never rule Gaza or threaten Israel again," Bruce added.
The two leaders further explored perspectives on broader regional challenges, including the ongoing situations in Syria and Sudan, reflecting their shared concern over instability in the Middle East.
