(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, May 13 (Petra) - Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, ARCAN, a business development support platform, and German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the National Entrepreneurship Policy.
According to a ministry statement on Tuesday, the memo aims to enhance investment "readiness" in the Kingdom's startup sector, with a particular focus on empowering women and building a "sustainable" women-led investment network.
The MoU, concluded under Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment Project, comes as part of "integrated" efforts to enhance women's engagement in the investment environment by supporting Angel Investors Club, the first of its kind in Jordan.
The memo also seeks to streamline women entrepreneurs' access to funding and mentorship, in line with the priorities of the Economic Modernization Vision and the National Entrepreneurship Policy.
The memo was signed by Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Smeirat, ARCAN Managing Partner, Fidaa Taher, and Executive Director and Deputy Chairman of the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment Project Committee, Ismail Shaheen.
Under the memo, the three sides make joint action to organize training and investment events, facilitate connections for female investors and startups, and enhance cooperation with local and international networks.
This effort would ensure "sustainability" of the initiative and increase its impact in stimulating innovation and economic growth based on creativity and technology.
Speaking at the Signing ceremony, Smeirat noted the memo reflects the ministry's "commitment" to implementing the National Entrepreneurship Policy by strengthening partnerships with the private sector and international initiatives.
Meanwhile, Taher expressed ARCAN's pride in this partnership, which contributes to building "a more inclusive" business environment and supports a "new" generation of women.
Taher stated this endeavor seeks to make a "tangible" impact on the entrepreneurial and investment landscape at the local and regional levels within platforms for communication, training, mentorship, and expertise exchange.
