(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, April 7 (Petra) -- A slight drop in temperatures is expected across Jordan today, Monday, with relatively warm conditions prevailing in most regions and hotter weather in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.
Medium- and high-altitude clouds are forecast throughout the day, accompanied by moderate southwesterly winds that will become active at times, generating dust, particularly in desert areas. The department has warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to dust in several parts of the country.
On Tuesday, the Kingdom is forecast to be affected by a khamasini weather system, which will bring a significant rise in temperatures, between 8 and 9 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average. The weather will turn warm and dusty across most regions and hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Clouds are expected at medium and high altitudes, and southwesterly winds will remain active intermittently, raising dust in many areas.
A sharp drop in temperatures is expected on Wednesday, with moderate weather in most regions and relatively warm conditions persisting in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will shift to northwesterly and remain active, causing dusty conditions, particularly in desert areas. Some medium- and high-altitude clouds will also be present.
Temperatures will continue to decline on Thursday, with cooler weather forecast across most regions. The Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will see milder conditions. Low-altitude clouds are expected, along with a chance of scattered light rain in the western parts of the country. Northwesterly winds will stay active and are likely to raise dust in desert areas.
Forecast high and low temperatures for Monday are expected to range between 27 C and 17 C in East Amman, and between 25 C and 15 C in West Amman. In the northern highlands, temperatures will range from 22 C to 15 C, while the Sharah highlands will see temperatures between 24 C and 14 C.
Desert areas are expected to record highs of 31 C and lows of 16 C, while the plains will see similar conditions with temperatures ranging from 27 C to 17 C. In the Jordan Valley, temperatures will be higher, ranging from 32 C to 20 C in the north and from 35 C to 23 C in the south.
The Dead Sea will experience temperatures between 33 C and 22 C, and the Gulf of Aqaba will see highs of 34 C and lows of 23 C.
