Kashmir Train To Run From Katra Temporarily: Dr Singh

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- The much-anticipated Vande Bharat Express will begin operations from Katra on April 19, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced. Originally intended to run between Jammu and Srinagar, the train will temporarily start from Katra due to ongoing renovation work at Jammu railway station.

Addressing concerns over the launch location, Dr. Singh clarified,“Some people have questioned why the inauguration is happening in Katra. Let me clarify that the train is meant to run from Jammu to Srinagar, but since Jammu railway station is under renovation, it will temporarily operate from Katra.”

In addition to launching the train service, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also review the progress of the Chenab Bridge, the world's highest railway bridge and a crucial part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. The bridge is expected to significantly enhance connectivity and boost economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Vande Bharat Express is set to reduce travel time between Jammu and Srinagar, providing a modern and efficient rail service for the region. Once the renovation of Jammu railway station is complete, the train will resume its originally planned route.
