J&K Waqf Employees Get 20% Salary Hike
According to an order, a hike of 20 per cent on last drawn pay has been announced for Imams for five-time prayers and Friday Khateebs in Jammu and Kashmir.
The order has been issued after the approval by the Chairperson Waqf Board.
Chairperson Waqf board, Dr. Daraksha Andrabi, in a press conference, stated that the board has implemented a revised pay structure benefiting employees across various categories. Skilled employees will now receive Rs 18,000 per month, semi-skilled Rs 6,000, and unskilled Rs 15,000.
Regular employees working in the shrine space and central office will get a 20% hike on their basic pay. Pensioners and family pensioners will also receive a 20% increase, while teaching faculty at P.B. Halima College have been granted a 15% raise.

Teaching faculty of P.B. Halima College will receive a 15% hike, while Imam-o-Khadeeb, Naib-e-Imam, and Mauzins have been awarded a 20% increase. Administrators appointed in different dargahs will receive an additional Rs 2,000 as a monthly allowance.
Calling it a“historic decision,” Dr. Andrabi said waqf board employees had been underpaid for 20 years, with some earning as little as Rs 4,000-5,000 per month. She expressed hope that the salary revision would help employees provide better education for their children and improve their standard of living.
“This is a step towards rectifying past injustices. Now, our employees can celebrate Eid with dignity and a sense of financial security,” she said.
