German, Austrian Interior Ministers Cancel Syria Visit Due To Possible Threats


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BERLIN, March 27 (KUNA) -- The German and Austrian Interior Ministers canceled their visit to Syria due to reports of "possible threats" to their delegations, said German authorities statement on Thursday.
German's Nancy Faeser and Austrian counterpart Gerhard Karner will not visit Damascus as scheduled, a spokesman for the German Interior Ministry revealed.
The reason for the cancelation was due to "concrete warnings by German security authorities of a terrorist threat," added the source who indicated that the ministers were supposed to arrive in Damascus after concluding their current visit to Amman, Jordan.
The two ministers were to discuss with Syrian authorities issues pertaining to security and the return of Syrian refugees.
The two arrived in Amman yesterday were they focused their talks on issues of mutual interest. (end)
