Qatar Committed To Achieving Well-Being Of All: Al Attiyah

Doha, Qatar: Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee H E Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah has said that Qatar achieved remarkable progress in the field of human rights in recent years, which reflected in numerous initiatives and developments in areas such as health, education, labor, social security, and sustainable development.

She emphasized that the State of Qatar pays special attention to vulnerable groups, reflecting its deep commitment to achieving the well-being of all citizens and expatriates.

This came during Her Excellency's participation in the discussions of the State of Qatar's Universal Periodic Review before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Al Attiyah noted that several draft laws are under study by relevant authorities in the country, describing it an important step towards further promoting and protecting human rights in the country.

She said that National Human Rights Committee believes in the implementation of human rights principles for all those subject to the legal jurisdiction of the State of Qatar, noting that the state is proceeding on this path with determination.

The Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee said,“We hope that the state will continue to adopt legal reforms to enhancing protection and empowerment for all individuals, reflecting its full commitment to human rights at all levels.”

She said,“On behalf of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar, I extend my thanks to the Human Rights Council, the Universal Periodic Review team, and all the countries that contributed to the fruitful recommendations submitted by the State of Qatar.
