Israeli journalist denounces Israeli attacks on Gaza as 'not only not legal, it's immoral'
(MENAFN) Gideon Levy, a prominent Israeli journalist, has strongly criticized Israel's recent resumption of attacks on the Gaza Strip, labeling them as not only illegal but also immoral. Despite 15 months of destruction in Gaza, Levy asserts that Israel has failed to achieve its goals.
"Resuming attacks on Gaza is not only a crime, but also immoral," Levy told a news agency. He questioned whether the Israeli government believes it can accomplish its objectives by killing another 50,000 people over the next 15 months, given its inability to do so with over 50,000 victims thus far.
Levy accused Israel of lacking a clear plan and echoed a belief held by many Israelis and foreign observers, suggesting that the deadly attacks are being carried out to maintain the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Highlighting the killing of 174 children on March 18, when Israel resumed its attacks, Levy stated that this had nothing to do with "fighting terror, self-defense, (or) releasing the hostages." He expressed profound anger and shame over Israel's actions, stating, "There is a moment in which no words can express the anger, the shame for what we are doing now."
