KP Government To Continue Kinetic Operations Against Militants


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to continue kinetic operations against militants as part of its strategy to combat terrorism. The decision was made during a security meeting on Tuesday, chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, where an action plan for counterterrorism efforts was finalized.

The meeting emphasized restoring public confidence in the state system and ensuring strict enforcement of counterterrorism laws. It was also decided to integrate public opinion into security and development matters while compiling a comprehensive database of terrorists and their facilitators.

Authorities will review bounty lists for wanted terrorists on a monthly basis, enhance surveillance of militant activities, and take strict disciplinary action against government officials found aiding militants. Under the new action plan, the civil administration will take a lead role in counterterrorism efforts, with a rapid boost in the capabilities of the police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

By the end of March, a plan will be formulated for police recruitment, training, and procurement of weapons and equipment. Additionally, a policy will be devised to counter cross-border terrorism, and a jirga will engage with Afghan elders following approval of the terms of reference (TORs) by the federal government.

The provincial government also decided to push for increased diplomatic engagement with Afghanistan through the federal government.

Curfew Imposed in Parts of South and North Waziristan Amid Security Concerns

Due to security threats, curfew has been imposed in parts of South and North Waziristan.

The administration has issued an official notification enforcing the curfew in these regions. According to South Waziristan Upper Deputy Commissioner Saleem Jan, a one-day curfew will be in effect on Wednesday, restricting movement from Asman Manza to Ladha and Makeen, as well as from Nawaz Kot to Razmak.

Similarly, in North Waziristan's Razmak subdivision, curfew will be enforced from 6 AM to 6 PM. The restrictions will apply from Nawaz Kot Bridge to Dankan, Tehsil Razmak, while a complete curfew will be in place from Dankan to Melogai Bridge in Tehsil Dosali.

Travelers have been advised to use alternative routes during this period.
