Lithuania’s President Expresses Hope for Solution Regarding US, EU Trade Tensions
(MENAFN) Lithuania’s leader has expressed optimism about preventing a potential trade conflict between the US and the European Union through discussions.
Gitanas Nauseda shared his hopes during an interview a public broadcaster on Monday, stating, “I really want to hope that this economic war, if we can call it that, will end with swift negotiations aimed at minimizing losses.”
Nauseda emphasized that no side would emerge victorious in such a trade conflict, regardless of who initiates it. He added, “This has been tested in the world many times throughout different periods, and it has always ended with the same result.”
United States Leader Donald Trump has announced plans to impose new tariffs on EU nations, adding to similar measures against Canada, Mexico, as well as China, and fueling global concerns about the potential consequences of a devastating trade conflict.
