Brazil’S Fortaleza Seeks Investment In UAE


(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – On Monday (24), Fortaleza's mayor, Evandro Leitão, met with Muhammad Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. He is visiting the country and, during the meeting, presented projects from the Ceará capital that could receive investments from the Arab institution.

“We are presenting all of Fortaleza's unique qualities to the world, seeking resources that can assist with our development projects. So, sitting down with an institution like ADFD is about exploring a different level of investment for our city. We were very well received and saw a very interesting openness to our potential, especially in the tourism sector,” said Leitão, according to information from the Fortaleza City Hall .

The Brazilian ambassador to the UAE, Sidney Romero, who also participated in the meeting, highlighted the investments Ceará is making in tourism, as well as its air connections, and reminded that the state is also home to technology infrastructure centers. According to information from the municipal government, the Director-General of the ADFD expressed interest in infrastructure projects.

According to the City Hall, this visit follows a meeting between Evandro Leitão and the UAE ambassador in Brasília, Saleh Alsuwaid, in February this year. During his trip to the UAE, Leitão also met with Alsaghira Wabran Hamad Al Ahbabi, a representative of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is accompanied on this trip by João Bosco Monte, the Secretary for International and Institutional Relations, and Odilon Aguiar, the head of the Foundation for Science, Technology, and Innovation (Citinova).
