Wildfire in San Jacinto county scorches over 1,300 acres

(MENAFN) Officials reported on Wednesday that a wildfire in San Jacinto County, Texas, has scorched over 1,300 acres. By 8:16 p.m. local time (0116 GMT), the blaze was partially contained, with only 10 percent of it under control, according to media sources.

The fire has caused significant damage to several structures, and more than 15 individuals have been forced to evacuate.

The Texas A&M Forest Service, which oversees the management of Texas' forests, announced that firefighters are working to construct a containment line. Additionally, helicopters are being used to release water over the Sam Houston National Forest, which is about an hour’s drive from downtown Houston, Texas’ largest city.

On early Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for counties west of Houston, upgrading a previous fire weather watch. This warning indicates an elevated threat of wildfires due to the current conditions.
