Doha, Qatar: The Nabd Endowment initiative of the Endowment Fund for Healthcare run by the General Department of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has helped treat 200 heart patients since its launch in 2020.

Currently, the initiative is contributing to the treatment of 70 urgent patients who cannot pay their treatment costs at Hamad Medical Corporation's Heart Hospital.

The initiative 'Nabd Endowment' aims to enhance humanitarian work by reaching out to poor people in their most desperate need.

This came during a press conference held at the headquarters of the General Department of Endowments. The press conference was attended by Director of General Department of Endowments Eng Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi and Head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Heart Hospital Dr. Abdulwahid Al Mulla. The conference reviewed the endowment's achievements in providing the necessary support to patients in need.

Addressing the press conference, Eng Hassan Al Marzouqi emphasised the continuation of the partnership with the Heart Hospital at Hamad Medical Corporation, which began in 2020 under the sponsorship of the Endowment Fund for Healthcare.

He noted that these efforts come in fulfilment of the objectives of the honourable donors. Dr. Abdulwahid Al Mulla praised the generous support provided by the General Department of Endowments through the Nabd Endowment initiative, which enabled the hospital to perform numerous critical heart surgeries and implant essential medical devices for patients who could not afford treatment.

“The initiative also covered accommodation and treatment expenses. The number of beneficiaries of the Nabd Endowment has reached 200 patients to date,” said Al Mulla.

He noted the importance of this cooperation in alleviating the suffering of patients and their families.

“Heart Hospital is implementing the conditions set by our generous donors, ensuring assistance to patients who truly deserve support,” said Al Mulla. He said that the cases of heart patients are reviewed by the Social Services Department and the Clinical Case Coordinators Unit.

Al Mulla expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the generous donors who supported the endowment, emphasising that their contributions helped alleviate the suffering of patients and their families and gave them hope for recovery.

He called on charitable people to contribute to the Endowment Fund for Healthcare to ensure the continuity of this blessed giving.

“It is enough for those standing there with pride and happiness to feel that they have restored hope to hundreds of patients, alleviated their pain, and relieved them and their families of the burden of operations and treatment, which they cannot afford,” said Al Mulla.

The General Department of Endowments emphasised that endowments are a community partnership and an ongoing charity. The Endowment Fund for Healthcare is one of six funds run by the General Department of Endowments.
