Japan, Iran Fms Agree Continued Dialogue On Nuclear File


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO, March 17 (KUNA) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi affirmed on Monday to continue the multilayered dialogue between the two countries, including at the foreign ministerial level, for the peace and stability of the Middle Eastern region, Japan's Foreign Ministry said.
In their 30-minute telephone conversation, Iwaya and Araghchi had a candid exchange of views on the situation surrounding Iran, including its nuclear issue, according to a statement released from the ministry.
Iwaya expressed deep concern about the current situation, and while stressing the importance of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), he pointed out that it was essential for Iran to take constructive and concrete actions in order to advance dialogue towards a peaceful resolution of the nuclear issue.
Iwaya also stressed the importance of dialogue, and pledged Japan's continued diplomatic efforts towards the peace and stability of the region.
In response, Araghchi explained the Iranian side's position and efforts, the ministry said. (end)
