Australia suggests agreement to stop tariff war
(MENAFN) On Sunday, Australia stated that it wants to suggest an agreement to United States Leader Donald trump that he cannot turn down, as an attempt to stop the current tariff conflict.
"What we need to do is find out what it is that the Americans want in terms of the relationship between Australia and the United States, and then make President Trump an offer he can't refuse," Trade Minister Don Farrell mentioned in a meeting with a news agency.
Based on Farrell, Canberra is still doubtful about what the Trump government looks for in exchange for excluding the country from the tariffs.
Farrell, who talked with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Friday, considered the negotiations as "not a pessimistic conversation" however, he stated that Lutnick "gave no assurances about what might happen in the next round of negotiations."
He mentioned that he is preparing to host another talk with United States Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on Tuesday.
