Salt Lake City, UT - March 2025 – The Utah chapter of the American Heart Association has announced that Dr. Sidni Shorter, President and CEO of the Utah Black Chamber, has been honored as a Woman of Impact for her remarkable advocacy and personal journey in the fight against heart disease. A stroke survivor herself, Dr. Sidni Shorter brings a unique and powerful perspective to her work, motivated by her own experiences and a family history of heart-related complications.

“I have outlived the age of all of my grandparents, who each succumbed to heart disease,” said Dr. Shorter.“This personal connection drives my passion for health advocacy. I want to share with the Black business community that health is wealth. We cannot build thriving businesses without prioritizing our health.”

In her role at the Utah Black Chamber, Dr. Sidni Shorter has been instrumental in promoting health education and resources within the community. Her commitment to raising awareness about heart disease, particularly within the Black community, has inspired many to take charge of their health.

To further her mission, Dr. Shorter is hosting“Paint The Runway Red,” a FUNdraiser on March 20 at the Urban Arts Gallery. This vibrant event invites community members to volunteer to walk the runway in honor of, to support, or to celebrate someone affected by heart disease. Participants will showcase their creativity while promoting heart health and raising funds for critical research and education initiatives.

“Paint The Runway Red is not just about raising money; it's about sparking conversations around heart health and encouraging our community to take proactive steps towards wellness,” Dr. Shorter added.
