Haaland breaks record in Manchester city’s 2-2 draw with Brighton


(MENAFN) On Saturday, Erling Haaland, Norwegian striker, broke records as Manchester City were held to a 2-2 draw by Brighton & Hove Albion in Week 29 of the English Premier League, which saw five tournaments.

Haaland, opening the scoring with a penalty in the 11th minute at the Etihad Stadium, surpassed Alan Shearer's record of 100 goals in 100 matches. He became the first player in Premier League history to reach 100 goal contributions in just 94 appearances.

Brighton responded with Pervis Estupinan's equalizer within the 21st minute.

City regained the lead in the 39th minute with a goal from Egyptian striker Omar Marmus, but Brighton leveled the score again early in the second half when Abdukadir Khusanov found the net in the 48th minute.

Manchester City, having secured their sixth draw of the season, sit in fifth place with 48 points, while Brighton occupies the seventh position with a total of 47 points.
