Vance claims Biden’s spouse ran US

(MENAFN) US Vice President J.D. Vance has implied that former First Lady Jill Biden took charge of cabinet meetings while her husband, then-President Joe Biden, was asleep.

Speaking to Fox News on Thursday, Vance addressed reports of tensions within President Donald Trump’s administration, particularly a rumored dispute between Secretary of State Marco Rubio and government efficiency czar Elon Musk. While acknowledging some truth to the reports, Vance dismissed claims of internal division and expressed frustration over leaks from within the cabinet.

“We're not going to have an administration where the president sits in cabinet meetings asleep while his wife runs the meeting and no one does anything,” he stated.

Trump has frequently mocked Biden as “Sleepy Joe,” referencing his public gaffes and questions about his mental sharpness. Concerns over Biden’s cognitive abilities became a major issue during the 2024 election, especially after his widely criticized CNN debate performance against Trump. Biden struggled to complete sentences, lost his train of thought multiple times, and made several verbal missteps.

Following intense pressure, Biden withdrew from the race in July 2024, endorsing his Vice President, Kamala Harris, as the Democratic nominee. However, months before his withdrawal, Jill Biden reportedly presided over a cabinet meeting in his place, sparking speculation among Republicans about who was truly leading the country at the time.
