Qatar To Supply Gas To Syria Via Jordan - Minister
Kharabsheh noted that the project is fully funded by the QFFD, aiming to address Syria's severe electricity shortage and improve the country's energy infrastructure.
The initiative will play a key role in enhancing Syria's electricity production and overall infrastructure performance, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
As part of the agreement, a floating liquefaction vessel (FLO) located in Aqaba will receive and convert liquefied natural gas (LNG), which will then be pumped through the Arab Gas Pipeline to Syria. In the initial phase, the project aims to boost electricity generation by up to 400 megawatts per day, with the Deir Ali facility in Syria gradually increasing its production capacity.
Kharabsheh emphasised that the agreement reflects Jordan's commitment to regional cooperation and solidarity, highlighting the importance of providing neighbouring countries with the necessary support to overcome challenges and achieve sustainable development. He stressed that this cooperation not only aids Syria but also contributes to broader regional stability and growth.
