USAID ends grant deal with Ukraine Energy Support Fund

(MENAFN) The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has officially informed the Energy Community Secretariat that it is ending its USD75 million grant deal with the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

According to a news agency, a remark was released about the move implemented by USAID, noting: "The Energy Community Secretariat received a formal notification from USAID regarding the termination of its Grant Agreement with the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, valued at USD 75 million. The Energy Community Secretariat has acknowledged receipt of this notification and is currently awaiting further clarification from USAID. The termination of this grant will reduce the available funds for procuring essential equipment for Ukraine’s energy sector."

It has been announced that the letter from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which confirmed the termination, was delivered on Feb. 27.

In the year 2023, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) established an agreement to allocate a grant of 25 million US dollars to the Energy Support Fund, while last year it committed to expanding the grant by an extra 50 million US dollars.
