Kuwaiti Consul In Milan Affirms Support For Special Olympics Delegation

TURIN, Italy March 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Consul General in Milan and Northern Italy, sheikh Jaber Al-Duaij Al-Malek Al-Sabah, affirmed on Thursday that Kuwait pays great attention to supporting its citizens in various fields, especially those with intellectual disabilities, who have demonstrated unprecedented sporting achievements.
This came in a statement for KUNA, as Consul Al-Sabah praised the Kuwaiti delegation from the Special olympics Kuwait participating in the World Winter Games (Turin 2025) for people with intellectual disabilities on their insistence and efforts to achieve advanced positions that carry the country's name and add to the record of Kuwaiti sports.
He expressed his admiration for the Kuwaiti participation in the Winter Games for the first time and their ability to understand and master this type of sport, which is not available in the country, stressing the delegation's commitment to continuing this distinguished effort in the competitions of the World Games, which are attracting media attention during this period.
"The developments we are witnessing in sports for people with intellectual disabilities and the remarkable achievements it is making at all local, regional and international levels come as fulfillment of the political leadership's directives to care for and rehabilitate this influential and precious group."
He noted that the country's Consulate General in Milan and northern Italy will provide all support and facilitation to the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the World Games (Turin 2025).
On his part, Head of the Kuwaiti delegation Khaled Al-Nasser expressed his appreciation towards the Kuwaiti Consulate in Milano and north Italy for its support for the Kuwaiti delegation since its arrival to Italy.
Al-Nasser stressed that this support has a significant impact on lifting the morale of the players and members of the technical and administrative staff of the team, and that it gives them more motivation and energy to do their best and achieve success with the aim of raising Kuwait's name in this global event.
The Kuwaiti delegation includes three athletes, Mariam Thiab (skating), Hajer Al-Rashidi, and Abdullah Al-Ali (snowball rush).
The 12th Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025 kicked off Saturday in Turin, Italy, running from March 8-15, with Kuwait's participation among athletes from 100 countries. (end)
