Inside Ukraine: Lynsey Addario And Laetitia Vançon At Leica Gallery New York
In stark contrast, Addario's images transport us to the front lines, where the brutality of war is ever-present. From the bloodied casualties to the resilience of those who persist, Addario's photographs capture the harrowing reality of life at war. Her work also delves into the personal story of two-year-old Sonya Liakh, whose rare form of cancer was left untreated due to the disruption caused by the invasion. Addario's compelling images, featured in The New York Times in October 2024, highlight the fragile intersection of life, death, and hope amid the violence.
The exhibition will be on view from March 6th through April 20, 2025. Additionally, on April 3rd Leica will host former New York Time Magazine Director of Photography, Kathy Ryan to moderate a special evening of conversation with Lynsey Addario and Laetitia Vançon as they discuss their current exhibition. This in-depth discussion will offer insight into the artists' creative processes, the challenges of photographing conflict, and their experiences in Ukraine.
