French Defense Minister says Ukraine will receive military aid from France

(MENAFN) France will support Ukraine with 195 million euros (USD211 million) in military assistance by taking the interest from frozen Russian properties, as stated by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu.

During an interview with a French newspaper on Saturday, Lecornu stated that the fresh support package will back up the transportation of 155-mm artillery shells as well as AASM gliding bombs, which will be utilized by Ukrainian Mirage 2000 warplane.

The French minister additionally stated that France is accelerating the transportation of older military gear as well, such as tanks with armored vehicles to Ukraine.

The resolution came after an October 2024 promise by Group of Seven (G7) countries to provide almost USD50 billion of loans to Ukraine, supported by earnings made from frozen Russian properties.

Lecornu's comments happened briefly following the UK’s implementation of a related deal with Ukraine on March 1 to give a USD2.84 billion loan for defense purchases, supported by frozen Russian properties as well.
