Japan Commits To Supporting India's 2047 Goals, Expanding Partnership To AI, Renewable Energy, & IT

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Mar 7 (KNN) Japan's Ambassador to India, Ono Keiichi, affirmed on Thursday that Japan will support India in achieving its developmental goals for 2047, while emphasising that both countries are poised to expand their economic partnership into emerging sectors such as renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and information technology.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 48th Joint Meeting of the Japan-India Business Cooperation Committee (JIBCC) and the India-Japan Business Cooperation Committee (IJBCC), Ambassador Keiichi characterised the bilateral relationship as one of natural partnership.

"Japan and India have been natural partners, and for more than 10 years, we have been special, strategic and global partners," he stated.

The Ambassador highlighted the robust investment and trade relations between the two nations, expressing confidence in future growth across new economic domains.

"I believe it will grow in new economic areas like renewable energy, AI, IT, and others. Japanese businesses are keen on building relationships and making investments with Indian businesses," he remarked.

Ambassador Keiichi also emphasised Japan's interest in strengthening people-to-people exchanges, which he described as a vital component of bilateral relations.

On March 5, a 17-member delegation from the JIBCC, led by Chairman Tatsuo Yasunaga, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The delegation comprised senior executives from prominent Japanese corporations spanning various sectors including manufacturing, banking, airlines, pharmaceuticals, plant engineering, and logistics.

During the meeting, Yasunaga briefed the Prime Minister ahead of the joint committee meeting held in the national capital.

Discussions focused on key strategic areas including the development of high-quality, low-cost manufacturing capabilities in India, expanding manufacturing operations for global markets with particular emphasis on Africa, and enhancing human resource development and exchanges.

Prime Minister Modi expressed appreciation for Japanese businesses' plans to expand their presence in India and their unwavering commitment to the "Make in India, Make for the World" initiative.

The Prime Minister also underscored the significance of intensified cooperation in skill development, which continues to be a fundamental pillar of the India-Japan bilateral relationship.
