The State Tax Service (STS) under the Ministry of Economy continues its efforts to align Azerbaijan's tax system with international transparency and information exchange standards, reinforcing the country's reputation as a reliable exchange partner, Azernews reports.

Since joining the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes in 2013, Azerbaijan has actively participated in the implementation and assessment of international tax standards. As part of this commitment, Global Forum assessors visited Azerbaijan last week to evaluate confidentiality measures and data safeguards.

During the visit, Ilkin Valiyev, Deputy Head of the STS, met with the delegation to discuss the country's experience in international tax compliance. The delegation also held meetings with State Customs Committee representatives and tax officials, receiving updates on ongoing reforms, information exchange practices, and security measures.

The assessment is expected to confirm Azerbaijan's commitment to global tax transparency standards, further strengthening its international standing as a trusted partner in tax information exchange.
