Unitek EMT Ramps Up Training Programs In Arizona
Unitek EMT offers EKG courses and evening classes to better serve local communities.
TEMPE, Ariz., Feb. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the critical shortage of emergency medical technicians (EMTs), Unitek EMT moved to a larger campus and added more starts dates for its 14-Day EMT Boot Camp. This year, Unitek EMT launched a Basic EKG Class and a seven-week evening course to provide more opportunities for aspiring EMS professionals.
"Unitek's dedication to initial and continuing education is evident in the positive outcomes we have experienced over the past year," said Darby Starr, Director of the EMT Program. "I think our creative approach to the Central Arizona EMS community is truly exceptional."
The intensive EKG course is designed for both new EMTs and current professionals who would like to pursue paramedic or nursing roles. This eight-hour class offers a comprehensive overview of electrocardiography (EKG) with a focus on anatomy and physiology of the heart, electrophysiology, and EKG interpretation. Students benefit from the expertise of guest instructors, such as resident ER doctors, who share their real-world experiences and enhanced cardiac-care skills.
In addition, Unitek EMT now offers an alternative to their 14-Day EMT Boot Camp. Through this seven-week evening course , students can enjoy more flexibility while outpacing longer programs from other schools. Not only do students receive accelerated training, but they benefit from experienced instructors and hands-on experience. The intensity of this training prepares EMT graduates to react quickly, overcome obstacles, and save lives under real-world conditions.
"Success as an EMT requires a training program as rigorous as the job itself," said Jeff Conlon, Chief Executive Officer at Unitek Learning. "Our accelerated EMT boot camps deliver the hands-on training you need to thrive as a first responder, with convenient options for different schedules. Now, we can educate more EMS professionals through our EKG course and evening classes."
