FATA University Hosts Seminar On 'Journalism And Development: Media's Social Impact'


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) The Department of Political Science at FATA University, in collaboration with the Association of Political Scientists, organized a seminar on 'Journalism and Development: Media's Social Impact.'

Dr. Intikhab Ahmed, Associate Professor at Anhui Normal University, China, was the keynote speaker. He provided in-depth insights into the political, social, and economic impact of media based on his research and experiences.

Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Ahmed emphasized that media is not just a tool for information dissemination but also plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion, ensuring political stability, and driving social development. He highlighted international and local examples of how media influences societal behavior and policymaking.

Visiting Lecturer Muhammad Marwan explained the objectives of the seminar, stating that it was an integral part of the student's academic calendar, aimed at deepening their understanding of journalism and its societal effects.

During the interactive session, students engaged in discussions on the positive and negative impacts of media, particularly in tribal regions like Dara Adam Khel and FATA. Participants stressed that independent and responsible journalism could contribute to peacebuilding, human rights, social progress, political stability, and economic prosperity.

The seminar also covered critical topics such as the media's role in governance, press freedom, and the impact of social media.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Wajid Mahmood, Head of the Political Science Department, expressed gratitude to Dr. Intikhab Ahmed and appreciated the students for their active participation. He underscored the importance of such academic activities for students' intellectual growth and called for more seminars in the future.

The event proved to be an enriching academic and intellectual experience for students, offering them deeper insights into the media's role in shaping societies.
