Online shopping in EU continues to grow in 2024


(MENAFN) Online shopping in the EU remained to grow in 2024, statistical authority Eurostat stated on Thursday.

The previous year, 77 percent of online customers purchased and ordered merchandise or facilities for their own usage on the internet, increasing 59 percent compared to ten years ago, in 2014.

The top percentages of online customers who shopped online the previous year were in Ireland (96 percent), the Netherlands (94 percent), as well as Denmark (91 percent).

Bulgaria had the least percentage at 57 percent, after Italy and Romania, which the two are at 60 percent.

The most commonly bought items online in 2024 were costumes, shoes, as well as accessories, fast-food and dining services, in addition to makeup and health merchandise.
