Jannik Sinner gets disqualified from tennis for 3 months due to doping


(MENAFN) The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) confirmed on Saturday that Jannik Sinner, tennis world top one is off-limits for three months for using drugs to enhance athletic performance.

WADA mentioned, "The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) confirms that it has entered into a case resolution agreement in the case of Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, with the player accepting a three-month period of ineligibility for an anti-doping rule violation that led to him testing positive for clostebol, a prohibited substance, in March 2024."

"WADA accepts that Mr. Sinner did not intend to cheat, and that his exposure to clostebol did not provide any performance-enhancing benefit and took place without his knowledge as the result of negligence of members of his entourage," it explained furthermore.

On the basis of the agreement, the duration of disqualification will start on Feb. 9 to May 4. This involves credit for four days formerly performed during his temporary postponement.
