Doha, Feb 13 (Petra) -- Minister of labor Khaled Bakkar highlighted Qatar-Jordan relations as an exemplary model for Arab economic cooperation, reflecting deep-rooted bilateral ties and the historic relationship between both countries' leadership.
In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA), Bakkar emphasized that bilateral cooperation extends beyond labor deployment to encompass vocational training and qualification programs, with Qatar demonstrating steadfast commitment to youth empowerment through market-aligned training initiatives.
The cooperation framework, established through a 2013 Memorandum of Understanding, has facilitated periodic Joint Committee meetings since 2019, overseeing the implementation of an initiative to create 10,000 job opportunities for Jordanians in Qatar.
Bakkar noted the development of an integrated employment platform between both nations, streamlining work visa issuance and facilitating Jordanian access to Qatari enterprises across various scales.
The cooperation has expanded into emerging sectors including IT and renewable energy, alongside traditional fields such as healthcare, education, and engineering.
"Qatar continues to seek Jordanian expertise in rapidly developing sectors, particularly in specialized roles within healthcare and education, reflecting Qatar's dynamic economic growth," Bakkar said, emphasizing the sustainable economic partnership that serves both nations' strategic interests.
The minister also outlined Jordan's recent legislative reforms aimed at enhancing private sector labor conditions, including strengthened worker protections and increased female workforce participation.
