US electronic warfare aircraft crashes into water

(MENAFN) A US Navy EA-18G Growler electronic warfare jet crashed into San Diego Bay on Wednesday morning around 10:15am local time. The crash occurred during a "go-around maneuver," after the jet had landed and was preparing for takeoff again. video footage shows the jet, with its landing gear still down, nosediving into the water, creating a large splash of water and debris.

The crew members were rescued and are reported to be in stable condition, though their identities have not been released. The cause of the crash is under investigation, with the US Coast Guard securing the wreckage site in the harbor.

The EA-18G Growler, developed by Boeing, is a specialized aircraft used for electronic warfare, providing jamming and electronic protection to US forces. This crash follows a fatal EA-18G Growler incident in October 2024 near Mount Rainier, Washington, which killed both crew members.
