Bethlehem Activists Launch Winter Aid Campaign For Displaced Palestinians In Northern West Bank

Activists from the Wall and Settlement Resistance Committees in the West bank are set to launch the "Dafa" (Warmth) campaign on Wednesday, aiming to support displaced Palestinians in northern West Bank governorates who are enduring harsh living conditions without basic necessities in makeshift shelters amid cold weather.

Munther Amira, a human rights activist advocating for Palestinians affected by Israeli military actions, said this year's campaign carries a renewed urgency, focusing on providing warmth to families forced from their homes due to Israel's ongoing military offensives. "It is crucial for our people to support one another during this genocide," Amira told Palestine News Network (PNN).

He explained that the initiative is simple, allowing anyone to contribute blankets and other warming supplies for displaced families. The campaign will last for one day, after which collected items will be delivered to emergency response committees in northern West Bank governorates for distribution.

"Our goal is for every household to donate at least one or two blankets, according to their ability, to help our displaced brothers and sisters in the northern refugee camps who are enduring extreme hardship," Amira said.

He stressed the importance of collective action, urging people to contribute so they do not remain bystanders in the face of ongoing displacement and suffering. "This campaign is a humanitarian and national effort that reaffirms our shared pain and struggle," he added.

Amira called on communities across the West Bank, particularly in Bethlehem, to participate in the campaign. He encouraged towns, refugee camps, and cities in the Bethlehem governorate to join the effort, urging institutions and activists to take part by collecting blankets in their respective areas. The campaign organizers will then consolidate, prepare, and transport the donations to the northern West Bank.

Expressing confidence in the generosity of the Palestinian people, Amira said he believes many will step up to demonstrate unity and solidarity through this initiative. "This is a collective humanitarian effort to provide even a small measure of warmth to children and the elderly in the northern West Bank," he said.
