North Korea Condemns US Navy Nuclear Submarine Arrival in South Korea

(MENAFN) North Korea sharply criticized the arrival of a US Navy nuclear submarine in South Korea on Tuesday, warning that it would utilize “any defense means” to protect itself. The statement, released by the state-run media and the Defense Ministry, referred to the deployment as a “concentrated expression of the US’ unchangeable madness toward North Korea.”

The North Korean government expressed significant concern over what it described as "dangerous hostile military actions" by the United States, fearing that such actions could escalate tensions and turn the ongoing military standoff on the Korean Peninsula into an actual armed conflict. The statement urged Washington to cease “provocative acts that lead to further instability.”

This statement followed the arrival of the USS Alexandria, a Los Angeles-class attack submarine, in the South Korean port city of Busan for resupply and crew rest. This marks the first visit of a US nuclear submarine to the Korean Peninsula this year. In response, Pyongyang said it is closely monitoring US military activities and is ready to take necessary measures to ensure national security.
