DUBAI, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- The World governments Summit 2025, kicked off Tuesday in Dubai, with the participation of official delegations and experts from various countries, under the slogan "Foreseeing Future Governments."
In his opening speech at the summit, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the summit's Chairman Mohammad Al-Gergawi said the developments that the next 25 years will bring would surpass everything that humanity has witnessed in history.
The world today is going through a pivotal phase of human civilization, reviewing the past 25 years to anticipate the next 25 years, said Al-Gergawi.
Al-Gergwai noted that the world's population has increased from 6 billion in 2000 to 8.2 billion today, and international trade has grown from USD 7 trillion to USD 13 trillion in 2024, adding the world has moved from the dominance of industrial and traditional companies such as oil companies, heavy industries and financial services to the forefront of technology companies and digital platforms.
In 2000, Internet users were about 7 percent of the world's population, and today it is 60 percent, with five billion people using the Internet, while the value of digital currencies 25 years ago was "zero", and today its value has reached 3 trillion dollars, he added.
"We are entering a new phase in human history that requires new tools, a new methodology, and a new vision that requires decisions from governments, organizations, companies, and individuals," he added.
He also noted that the most important lesson that history teaches us is that what is coming is different from what has come before.
The State of Kuwait, headed by His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, is also taking part in the global summit.
The participants will touch on efforts to enhance cooperation in facing global challenges by adopting innovation and sustainability as two fundamental pillars for the future of governments.
