(MENAFN) A satirical crowdfunding initiative from Denmark has proposed purchasing California for $1 trillion and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries, in a humorous response to US President Donald Trump's repeated interest in buying Greenland. trump has long expressed a desire to acquire the strategically important island, but his proposal has been met with strong rejection from both Danish and Greenlandic officials.

In a playful twist, the Denmarkification group has offered to trade California, which Trump has previously criticized as "the most ruined" state, in exchange for the island. The crowdfunding campaign suggests that each Danish citizen contribute around $27,675, humorously promising to bring Danish values, such as "hygge" and bike lanes, to the Golden State.
