Erdogan Reaffirms Palestinian Claim to Gaza, Slams US Proposals

(MENAFN) Turkish President Rejep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized on Sunday that no force can drive the people of Gaza from their "eternal" homeland, declaring that Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem are integral parts of Palestine. "No power can force the people of Gaza out of their eternal and everlasting homeland that they have inhabited for thousands of years. Palestine, including Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, belongs to the Palestinians," Erdogan said to reporters in Istanbul before departing for Malaysia.

Erdogan also criticized the US administration's proposals on Gaza, which he claimed were made under pressure from Israel. He dismissed the suggestions as not worth discussing, referring to former US President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians. "These efforts are totally futile and serve no purpose," he asserted.

Additionally, Erdogan praised Hamas for fulfilling its commitments in ongoing prisoner exchanges with Israel, despite Israeli efforts to disrupt the process. In discussing the situation in Syria, Erdogan condemned the Assad regime, stating that the discovery of mass graves in various parts of Syria is exposing the "bloody face" of the regime.
