Minister Of Awqaf Crowns Winners Of 2025 Sports Championship Cup

DOHA: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanim bin Shaheen Al Ghanim crowned the Public Relations and Communication Department team as the champion of the 2025 Ministry of Awqaf Sports football Championship, after defeating the Engineering Affairs Department (B) team, which finished runner-up.

The final match and awarding ceremony were attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry H E Dr. sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani, Assistant Undersecretaries and Directors of Departments, and a group of employees who were keen to encourage and motivate the players to win the championship title.

The final match, which was held at the Ministry's stadiums in Abu Hamour, concluded the four-week competition. During this tournament, 16 teams representing various departments of the Ministry participated in a distinctively competitive and enthusiastic atmosphere.

The tournament was characterised by strong matches, which showed high sportsmanship between the teams, as several departments competed to achieve victory and qualify for the final rounds. Four teams qualified for the semi-finals, namely: The Department of Dawah and Religious Guidance (A) - scholarship students, the Department of Engineering Affairs (A), the Department of Public Relations and Communication, in addition to the Engineering Affairs Department team (B), who was later able to reach the final to face the public relations team that won the championship title.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs was keen to provide all services and equipment to ensure the success of the tournament, including the allocation of a medical team and an ambulance in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation, to ensure the safety of the players and provide immediate medical care when needed.

At the end of the tournament, the participants praised the professional organisation and sports atmosphere that characterised the competitions, stressing that the tournament was not just a sporting event, but rather an opportunity to enhance communication between the Ministry's employees, and to establish a culture of physical activity as part of a healthy work environment.

The Public Relations and Communication Department, the organiser of the tournament, explained that this event comes within the Ministry's strategy to enhance sportsmanship among employees and motivate them to practice physical activities, which contributes to improving public health and strengthening relations between employees of the Ministry's departments and joint work.
