EU Welcomes Formation Of New Gov't In Lebanon

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Feb 8 (KUNA) -- The European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas welcomed on Saturday the formation of a new government in Lebanon.
She wished the government success in meeting the aspirations of the Lebanese people, reaffirming the EU's steadfast support for the Lebanese people, especially regarding the rebuilding of state institutions capable of fulfilling their missions at the service of the citizens.
Kallas said in a statement that the EU is ready to support the new government in adopting a "reform-oriented agenda" and to relaunch the EU Lebanon partnership including by holding an association council this year.
Earlier today a 24-member cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, was announced in Lebanon. (end)
