Bluey's Boy Storms To Wadi Al Sail Cup Win

Doha: Nasser Mohammed Kazim Al Ansari Bluey's Boy yesterday stormed to victory to secured the Wadi Al Sail Cup at the Al Uqda Racecourse where an exciting day of racing took place.

In the Thoroughbred Premium Maiden event, following a near-miss in his previous start, Tareq Essa Abdulla-trained Bluey's Boy secured his first career victory with a dominant display under the guidance of jockey Ivan Rossi. The four-year-old gelding surged home to win by one and a half lengths. Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club's (QREC) Racing Manager Abdulla Rashid Al Kubaisi presented the trophies to the winning connections.

In the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (60-80) over 1300m, Khaled Al Shahania, owned by Hassan Ali A M Alabdulmalik and trained by Ahmed Kobeissi, triumphed by a length under jockey Mohammed Hassan Ali Alabdulmalik.

The Local Thoroughbred Novice Plate (1300m) saw Messaouda take the win for Sabhea Awad Ibrahim and trainer Ibrahim Khaled Elahmed. Fayos Martin Borja guided Messaouda to a half-length victory.

Earlier, in the Thoroughbred Novice Plate over two kilometres, Tiding showcased endurance to claim victory by a length for owner Sheikh Abdul Rahman Rashid A M Al Thani. Tiding is trained by Jassim Ghazali and was expertly ridden by Marco Casamento.

The day's third race featured the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate (2200m), where S K Mroan, owned by Raey Al Hessan Racing and trained by Mubarak bin Zayed Al Awami, galloped to a three-length win under Abdulla Rashid Al Hajri.

H H Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani's homebred Mubkhar Al Shahania made an impressive start to his career, winning the Local Purebred Arabian Maiden Plate for 4YOs over 1300m in style. Mubkhar Al Shahania, trained by Rudy Nerbonne, powered home under Lukas Delozier to win by two lengths.

The day opened with the Thoroughbred Handicap (45-65) race over 1300m, where Far Shot secured a two and a half-length victory for owner Salem Fadgam Al Hajri & Sons, with Youssef Lachhab in the saddle.
