Japan Vows Active Stance In Support Of Gaza After Trump's Remarks

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO, Feb 5 (KUNA) - Japan on Wednesday vowed to play an active role in supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip following US President Donald Trump's remark on Gaza on the previous day.
"I am aware of the remarks of President Trump. Japan is seriously concerned about the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi told a press conference. Asked by reporters about Trump's intention to have the US take control of the Palestinian-controlled Gaza Strip and aim for future ownership, Hayashi refrained from making any specific comment.
"We will work with the parties involved to improve the humanitarian situation and calm down tension through the steady implementation of the ceasefire agreement," Hayashi said.
The top government spokesman stressed that, in addition to providing immediate humanitarian assistance, Japan will also play an active role in supporting medium- to long-term recovery and reconstruction efforts, in cooperation with relevant countries and organizations. (end)
