Many die in mass shooting in Sweden

(MENAFN) A mass shooting at an adult education center in Orebro, western Sweden, has resulted in an estimated ten fatalities, with several others injured. The attack, described by Sweden’s prime Minister as the "worst attack" in the country's history, took place at 12:33 pm local time on February 4, 2025. Initial reports indicated at least five victims, but the death toll later rose.

Police have launched an investigation into charges of attempted murder, arson, and aggravated weapons offenses. While details on the attacker remain scarce, local authorities believe the gunman, described as a 35-year-old man, may either be among the injured or deceased. There are no indications of prior criminal activity or connections to law enforcement.

In total, six people have been hospitalized, five of whom were shot, with four in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that no children were among the victims. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson condemned the attack as a "terrible act of violence" and expressed his condolences for the fear experienced by those trapped in the classroom during the shooting.
