Hangu Police Seize Rs. 70 Million In Largest Operation Of The Year

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) HANGU: In what is being hailed as the biggest operation of the year, Hangu City Police recovered Rs. 70 million in illegal currency during a targeted crackdown across the district.

Following the directives of DIG Kohat Region Abbas Majid Marwat and under the supervision of DPO Muhammad Khalid Khan, special checkpoints were set up at key locations across Hangu from 7 PM to 9 PM on February 4, 2025.

During the operation, SDPO City Amjad Hussain and SHO City Fayyaz Khan signaled a suspicious Revo vehicle to stop at the Jozarra police checkpoint. However, the driver sped away, attempting to evade capture.

SHO Fayyaz Khan, IHC Qasid Ali, and HC Yasin immediately pursued the fleeing vehicle and intercepted it on the Ibrahimzai main road. The car was occupied by two individuals: Muhammad Rafiq, son of Gul Rehman from Kurram district, and Naseel Akbar, son of Gul Akbar from Orakzai district.

Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered Rs. 70 million in Pakistani currency expertly concealed within the car's body. Given the magnitude of the recovered amount, both suspects were arrested on the spot, and an initial investigation was launched.

During investigation, it was revealed that the seized money was linked to the illegal hundi and hawala network, intended for illicit transfer across various cities and possibly across borders. Such funds are often used for activities like terrorism, money laundering, and other unlawful operations.

Hangu City Police handed over the recovered cash, the Revo vehicle, and the arrested suspects to the FIA in Kohat for further legal proceedings and a comprehensive investigation to uncover the broader network behind the operation.

DPO Hangu Muhammad Khalid praised the police team's vigilance and successful operation, stating that Hangu Police remain committed to curbing illegal activities and ensuring public safety. He emphasized that this operation not only exemplifies the enforcement of the law but also represents a significant victory against elements that threaten the national economy and treasury.
