Trump proposes controversial solution to ongoing Palestinian issue: No Palestinians

(MENAFN) US President Donald trump has proposed a controversial solution to the ongoing Palestinian issue, suggesting the relocation of Gaza’s residents to Arab nations like Egypt and Jordan. Speaking about the destruction in Gaza following the recent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, Trump argued that the region needs to be rebuilt and that Arab nations should absorb more Palestinian refugees to help restore order. He discussed this idea with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and plans to raise the issue with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Trump views the relocation of Gaza residents as either a temporary or long-term solution to the crisis, offering Palestinians a "fresh start" and regional stability. However, his proposal has not been well-received, especially in the Arab world. Jordan already hosts over 2.39 million Palestinian refugees, and many Arab states have long advocated for a two-state solution, not resettlement.

Trump criticized the Biden administration's approach to the conflict, claiming that his own presidency had a tougher stance against Palestinian movements, which helped keep the situation in check. He also recalled his controversial decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and move the US Embassy there, a move praised by Israel but condemned by the Arab world.

Trump’s proposal to resettle Palestinians, backed by international support and financial aid, has faced resistance due to concerns over mass migration and the potential economic strain on host nations. His stance remains firmly pro-Israel, envisioning a dramatic demographic shift rather than supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
