Arab League: A Forced Displaced Palestinians Threat To Palestinian Cause

CAIRO, Feb 2 (KUNA) -- The Secretary-General of Arab League Ahmad AbulGheit asserted Sunday that the forced displacement of Palestinians poses an existential threat to the Palestinian cause.
In a statement, Arab League chief pointed out that Israel's objective is to render the Gaza Strip uninhabitable, thereby setting the stage for a scenario that is not only unacceptable but also in direct violation of international law.
This came during a meeting held on Sunday with Sigrid Kaag, the United Nations Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, at the Arab League headquarters.
During the meeting, AbulGheit emphasized that the rational and humanitarian alternative lies in amplifying and expediting relief efforts, while simultaneously preparing for the reconstruction of Gaza.
AbulGheit reiterated that the two-state solution remains the sole path to achieving long-term peace and security for Palestinians and Israelis.
He stressed that without concrete efforts to establish a Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, the region would remain perpetually at risk of spiraling into further cycles of violence.
The discussions also centered on the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, underscoring the necessity of solidifying the ceasefire agreement, while urgently accelerating the relief efforts to address the unprecedented scale of destruction in the Strip. (end)
