KCCI Seeks US Med-Tech Expertise


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Feb 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and industry (KCCI) expressed, Sunday, its desire to benefit from US expertise in medical and scientific research, as well as healthcare innovation to support the country's ambitious plans in line with its 2035 vision.
A KCCI press release; on hosting a US embassy delegation specialized in healthcare, led by the embassy's Senior Commercial Officer Darrel Ching, said the meeting was attended by representatives from Kuwait's health Ministry, the Direct investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) and several stakeholders.
KCCI emphasized the long-standing ties with the US, which reflect shared values and mutual commitment to progress and prosperity. Over the years, these ties have expanded across various domains, including technology, education, energy, and trade, the release added.
Healthcare is one of the mutual interest, as Kuwait has long recognized the importance of boosting its healthcare system, developing advanced infrastructure and fostering innovation to meet its public health needs, it noted.
It recalled the COVID-19 pandemic, which showed the necessity of strong global healthcare systems, as well as resilient and innovative healthcare infrastructure. It also detected weaknesses in the systems while simultaneously driving advancements in medical research, digital health, and public health emergency preparedness.
KCCI stressed that investing in healthcare is essential to national security, economic stability, and social well-being. In post-pandemic era, governments and organizations focus on building stronger systems that tackle future challenges.
On his part, Ching praised Kuwait's keenness in expanding economic cooperation with the United States.
He described Kuwait as "trading partner," expressing hope that the meeting would help strengthen economic ties through establishing a healthcare partnership as well.
Meanwhile, KDIPA presented an overview of Kuwait's 2035 vision, highlighting projects and partnerships in healthcare and other sectors. (end)
