Jordan’s exports to Iraq increase by 45.6 percent

(MENAFN) The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Iraq are working to strengthen their economic ties by establishing new businesses and boosting trade exchange, which has grown by 45.6 percent over the past year. Both countries are seeking to expand their commercial relations and create more opportunities for mutual investment.

A Jordanian delegation arrived in Baghdad on Friday to coincide with the Baghdad International Fair, where 70 Jordanian companies are showcasing their products in a dedicated pavilion representing the Kingdom. The event serves as a platform to highlight Jordanian industries and promote business partnerships between Jordanian and Iraqi enterprises.

Organized by the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the visit aims to further increase Jordanian exports to Iraq, which reached USD1.17 billion over the past 11 months, reflecting a significant growth rate of 45.6 percent. Additionally, the delegation will take part in the Jordan-Iraq Business Forum, where industry leaders and business representatives from both nations will engage in discussions to explore new avenues for economic collaboration.

Fathi Al-Jaghbir, head of the Jordanian Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that the initiative is intended to restore Jordanian exports to Iraq to their previous levels. He noted that in the past, the Iraqi market accounted for nearly 20 percent of Jordan's total exports, underscoring the importance of reviving and expanding trade relations between the two neighboring countries, according to the Jordanian News Agency.
