Budget 2025: Kashmir Citizens, Traders Share Expectations

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- As Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman prepares to present the Union Budget on February 1, 2025, the people of Kashmir eagerly await measures that address their unique challenges and aspirations. Citizens, traders, and entrepreneurs are hopeful for specific allocations and policy changes to promote economic growth, infrastructure development, and employment generation.

Javid Ahmad, a resident of Ganderbal, emphasized the need for significant funds for Jammu and Kashmir.“There are many unresolved issues, with several major projects pending. The government should address the concerns of daily wagers and unemployed SPOs by releasing special funds. We urge the central government to allocate sufficient funds so that Jammu and Kashmir can progress at the grassroots level,” he said.

Businessman Bashir Ahmad highlighted the need for government intervention to revive the struggling trade sector.“The government must focus on trade and bring it back on track as it once was. We are unable to pay bank EMIs, school fees, or make payments to our dealers. We hope the central government will announce a special package for businessmen. We want development, increased tourism, and more visitors to Kashmir,” he added.

Bilal Ahmad from Ganderbal said,“The common people look at food prices and daily essentials every year when the budget is announced. We are hoping for relief in terms of tax benefits, subsidies, healthcare, education, and infrastructure. The government should consider the issues faced by common people before announcing the budget.”
