BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 31. The "State
Program for Improving the transport Infrastructure of Baku and
Adjacent Territories for 2025-2030," approved by President Ilham
Aliyev, outlines plans for the purchase of 299 new carriages for
Baku Metro by 2030, Trend reports.
According to the program, the Ministry of Finance, working hand
in hand with the State Agency for Antimonopoly Control and Consumer
Market Supervision, Baku Metropolitan, and Azerbaijan Transport and
Communications Holding (AZCON), is set to take the reins on
refreshing the aging metro cars (rolling stock) and bringing in new
vehicles during the 2025-2030 timeframe.
The Baku Metro commenced operations on November 6, 1967. The
current infrastructure comprises 40.7 kilometers (25.3 miles) of

This includes the three current lines (Red, Green, and Purple)
along with two new lines (Blue and Yellow). The network will
feature a total of 76 stations, six power plants, and an overall
length of 119.1 km. A total of 51 new stations are set to be
developed, contributing to an underground line that spans 84.3
