Luis Garcia Named As Qatar National Football Team Head Coach
Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Football Association has appointed Spanish manager Luis Garcia, who previously managed Espanyol Barcelona team, as the new head coach of their senior national team.
Garcia takes the helm just weeks before Qatar's campaign in the 26th Gulf Cup Championship.
Garcia faces an immediate challenge as he prepares to lead the team in the regional tournament, which kicks off on December 21 in Kuwait.
The appointment marks a new chapter for the Qatari national team, who will look to build on their recent football development initiatives.
The Spanish coach brings considerable experience from his time in La Liga, having managed Espanyol Barcelona, and will be tasked with shaping Qatar's tactical approach in upcoming competitions.
The timing of Garcia's appointment gives him limited preparation time before the Gulf Cup, where Qatar will compete against other regional footballing powers for one of the Middle East's most prestigious trophies.
