Retail sales surge 7.2 percent in Turkey in October


(MENAFN) Turkey’s retail sales rate surged by 7.2 percent annually in the previous couple of months, based on figures published Wednesday by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

When looking at trade sales, the data revealed a prominent development, showing an impressive increase of 15 percent compared to the exact same month in the previous year.

In the retail trade sector, food, drinks, and tobacco sales surged significantly by 10.6 percent. Furthermore, non-food sales saw an even greater rise, climbing by 20.1 percent. In contrast, motorized fuel sales witnessed only a modest surge of 1 percent during the same period.

Shifting to the wholesale field, the wholesale and retail trade sector, together with the restoration of motor automobiles and motorcycles, climbed by 9.2 percent. Additionally, wholesale trade sales rates posted an increase of 3.8 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, total trade sales rates dropped by 1.9 percent. However, the retail sales ratio index recorded a slight rise of 0.2 percent.
